Entry Requirement
The current MIT page lists several acceptable entry pathways for students joining Foundation in IELTS.
You need to have graduated from high school.
You have successfully finished General English at an intermediate level.
You can show a level equivalent to IELTS General Training 4.5, TOEIC 510, or another equivalent international test.
You can show evidence that you completed an intermediate-level course at another English college in Australia.
Why study this course at MIT?
The course introduces the fundamentals of English writing used in both university / academic contexts and business, including the difference between formal and informal English and how to transition between them.
Students also work on more advanced vocabulary commonly used in English tests, including influences from French, Latin and Greek on formal English.
Learn how tone and style change depending on the writer’s purpose and the audience.
Focus on key words and phrases commonly used in English tests and in more formal English.
Improve understanding of phrasal verbs and their practical use in real spoken communication.
Build exam reading skills such as skimming and scanning with a wider reading list than General English.
